The cloth

The deep indigo of true adìrẹ — the resist-dyed cloth that Abéòkúta has been making for centuries. Spirals stamped by hand, so no two lengths are ever quite the same. Set for six, with a tablecloth long enough for the people who stay late.

The name

Olúmọ̀ Rock stands over Abéòkúta — the city whose name means under the rock, for the shelter it gave. Abéòkúta is also the home of adìrẹ. The cloth and the rock come from the same place.

The cloth

The same hand-stamped spirals in the warm red of laterite earth. Softer, sun-warmed, built for evening light — the set for long Sunday dinners and the last of the daylight.

The name

Mápò Hill rises at the centre of Ìbàdàn, crowned by the hall that has looked over the city for a century. Clay for the ground it stands on, and for the colour the earth gives back.
